HOW WINE STARS WORKS
Harpers Wine Stars is the only tasting competition created and developed in consultation with UK buyers. At each stage of the judging process, we have taken into account how frontline buyers assess wines for their business and ultimately how they make their purchasing decisions.
We judge each wine based on taste, value and design. Our judges rate the whole package and we give you feedback scores on each element, giving you unique insight and feedback from UK buyers on your wine for the price of an entry fee.
ROUND ONE - TASTE
Tasting samples are presented by region and style to ensure that each wine is judged fairly and benchmarked against its peers. Every wine is assessed blind on its aroma, taste, and quality.
ROUND TWO - VALUE
Throughout the value round, wines are still judged blind. The judges are given the recommended retail price and target market of each wine and score against these criteria.
ROUND THREE - DESIGN
The product is revealed and scores are given for design, packaging and labelling. Judges are asked to consider how well the design communicates the style, quality, and price level of the wine and how relevant it is to its target channel.
